January 10th, 2008An interface is the place at which independent and often unrelated systems meet and act on or communicate with each other.
Why is it important?
It has to communicate for itself, with nobody around a user would have to understand it. Felling comfortable is key; the interface must welcome a new learning experience, and allow itself to be the only teacher.
What is an effective Interface?
- User-friendly
- Easy to navigate to find information
- Not distracting (this would take the users mind from the important information)
- Straight to the point
- Help them remember
- Put the user in control
- Use consistent and logical designs
- Provide informative guidance and feedback
